Lia Harutyunyan, BS in Data Science ‘22

Lia Harutyunyan is a senior at AUA, who applied to the newly introduced data science program in 2018 Data out of curiosity as to what the new program had to offer. “I was one of the first students in the program, so it was quite exciting. I was previously taking English courses at AUA so I was well aware of the unique atmosphere and high quality education the University provides.”

Currently, Lia holds an internship position in configuration management at Siemens. She notes that the experience at the company strengthened her problem-solving skills and gave her an understanding of how to operate in the world of IT. 

After graduation, Lia plans to continue her education at AUA with a master’s degree in Computer and Information Science. She believes that the change of direction will give her more knowledge in programming and prepare her for the job market. “I think we should keep an open mind and constantly think about how we can apply our knowledge and skills to benefit our country. Being in this field gives you the opportunity to be a part of the community and contribute through your innovative ideas and hard work.”
